The Vincent in the Barn

This interesting and informative book about “motorcycle archaeology” is by Tom Kotter and a must read for any vintage motorcycle enthusiast.  It is a collection of true, short stories about real people finding a two wheel “jewels-in-the-rough” and then bringing them back into circulation.

It features seven chapters with 38 true stories, and 256 pages including some excellent motorcycle photos.

Some of the more recognizable and famous collectors include: Dave Edwards (Editor-in-Chief of Cycle World), Somer Hooker, Guy Webster, John Parham, Herb Harris, Glen Bator, Jay Leno, and many others. It features “barn fresh” motorcycle discoveries and how they were discovered then brought back to life, including rare and historic examples of American, British, European and Italian vintage motorcycles.

The best part about the book is that it features real motorcycle enthusiasts and their love for these timeless classics. This reviewer's favorite is near the end, describing the famous “Lawrence of Arabia" Brough-Superior.  A real prize in the history of two-wheel exotica!

The Vincent in the Barn is an easy read; I could not put it down until it was finished. Highly recommended! JJ Cerilli

Striking in any color (US buyers could choose between red, black or the iconic Fireball Orange) Bloor/Triumph's first commercial success rates exceptional marks for originality, mechanical excellence and the kind of drop dead styling that compares to legendary brands like Vincent, Laverda and Brough Superior. Responsible in large part for the renaissance of the British motorcycling industry...” Read more
